"Perhaps somewhere there is a step-by-step list of the things I must first have in place and a complete working example not just code segments?"
Is what I had looked for when struggling with XML imports It is also best to scan search the entire Unidata set rather than sticking to one doc. There are bits and pieces scattered all throughout. That is not to say it may result in further confusion since one doc will tell you to name the map in the extract while yet another tells you to use the extract file. Neither of which I found would work properly. In truth, if you restrict your inbound docs to contain tags that are identical to your dict names, you can readseq locating the tag, read the dict, see what attribute it is for, and populate Of course that is a worse case scenario "Steve Jones" <[email protected]> Sent by: [email protected] 03/05/2009 06:47 AM Please respond to [email protected] To <[email protected]> cc Subject [U2] XML Extraction -- Receiving XML Documents I am trying to import an XML document following the examples given in the UniBasic Extension manual. I tried the method cited on page 6-17 of this manual using PrepareXML, OpenXMLData, etc and got successful status results at each step but I never saw any data. I tried using the XMAP API example cited on page 9-21 getting successful results down to the XMAPReadNext; however the first "readnext" yielded an end of data. Does anyone know where I can find a meaningful example of how to properly use either of these methods? Perhaps somewhere there is a step-by-step list of the things I must first have in place and a complete working example not just code segments? I'm using UniData 7.1 on AIX 5.1.3. (I posted this on the u2ug technology forum but no response.)
