1. To me, it is a given that Microsoft encourages users to run the .net web apps on IE.
2. Much as I like Microsoft, the MS "equivalent" of JEE, BizTalk server, is rather expensive. WCF (Windows Communications Foundation) has a lot of beautiful features yet it has some major scaling limitations. IBM WebSphere has a lot of advantages in this space. --Bill -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tony G Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 8:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [U2] IDE Yeah, that was a funny statement. Sorry Bill. IE isn't .NET. I wish it were, and MS Office too because there would be a lot less problems. Many of the security issues are precisely due to the fact that IE doesn't employ the .NET security model which authenticates and authorizes code. After all of this time, Microsoft still hasn't delivered fully managed applications based on their own framework. I won't argue with the general sentiment. IE has had issues for years with stability and standards. But technical or political aversion (or attraction) to .NET needs to be based on .NET and not on applications that don't even use it.
