Can something be done about this? The digest emails aren't digest emails
today.

How long do you need it to remain open? There is a data file that
contains the default timeout parameter for this in Universe (not sure at
all about UniData). I can send you the info on what to change to extend
the timeout, if it seems like it would solve things for you.
