Hi Mike I raised this with the U2 team when the announcement was first made, and with (then) IBM in a U2UG board meeting. At that time they weren't able to comment and even the engineers didn't know what would happen to it.
I have been promised a response when the dust settles, so I'll post then if nobody gets to hear first. It is the only part of the product that I can think of that is not separated out from other IBM stuff. I hope it won't be frozen or made unavailable because it was shaping into a nice product.
