Thanks - this is just for my own internal use so security isn't really a concern - telnet will do just fine.

Okay, going back to my days with PI/Open on 7330s, but you logged into Unix then invoked UV. You need to set up telnetd on SuSE (it's disabled or, more likely, not even installed on pretty much every linux nowadays). You can then just log in remotely over telnet, and fire up UV either from the command line or from .profile. General advice nowadays would be (I've never done it myself) to fire up a terminal session over something rather more secure than telnet - something like SSH for example.
