Hi Symeon:

We looked at Apache Lucene a few months back. Lucene technology is the core
for Solr project from Apache. Since both of these projects run under the
Apache Tomcat engine which is the basis for our U2WebLink product, it seemed
a natural fit.

There was the compelling hooks in the technology we liked such as JSON APIs,
full-text indexing, and the ability to use a simple HTTP GET command to pass
parameters to search engine to retrieve the data. There also was hit
highlighting and distributed search and index replication similar to the
Hadoop Apache project.

Unfortunately, we did not have a partner willing to share the burden. Maybe
we can talk off-line and see if we can work together on a project like this.

Regards,
Doug

Just a quick ping to see if anyone in the group has ever used solr (the
apache opensource search platform) or more importantly integrated into solr
as either the front or backend from u2 or even .net ?

Thanks

Symeon.
