Harold:
(1) Yes, I have written a signature capture interface for MV.
The device connects to a client-side PC and I have an
install/setup utility that handles everything there. This was
originally intended for a POS running either AccuTerm or
AnzioWin, where the clerk causes the character app to
transparently send a sequence to activate the device. The
resulting signature is displayed to the clerk for verification
before acceptance. See info, reference for hardware, and a
screenshot here:

The client for whom this was written also uses PrintWizard. We
capture signatures from contractors at the POS and then display
their sig on the invoices and other documentation which is
printed at sale, faxed, or emailed - all seamlessly.

(2) Yes, I call and receive web services all the time. The
"solution" for any given site depends on the environment and
skillset of the developers.

Please email if you're interested in either of the above.
