Urgh. Found it.

Every uv executable and sub-executable is trying to (separately) get its AD
information, and I'm on a stand-alone laptop so I don't have an AD
controlle. And somewhere in the stack (using UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity?)
it's making a call out to

\\Server*\MAILSLOT\NET\NETLOGON

Which takes 10 seconds to time out - and it's doing it 3 times to be on the
safe side.

So in the unlikely event that someone else does hit it, I still had NetBIOS
over TCP enabled on one of my adapters - not actually the one I'm using,
strangely enough, but just having it in the registry caused this. So go into
adapter settings for every adapter - used or not - double click the TCP/IP
v4 entry, select Advanced and kill NetBIOS.

Is anyone else experiencing performance problems with 11.1.9?

 

I've just upgraded my laptop to 11.1.9 (Win7x64) and it's horribly slow,
taking about 30 seconds to start any UniVerse process. This affects the
initial uv.exe process, whether from cmd or telnet or UniObjects, and any
sub-process it creates in turn e.g. running BASIC, CREATE.FILE etc.
Anything internal e.g. LIST works fine.

 

AV turned off, plenty of resources available, only using half my physical
memory, standard uvconfig, nothing in any of the logs, no replication or
transaction logging running . just a little 3 user system that I don't have
time to pull apart.
