Thanks, guys.

I used HyperEdit in the past to edit my PAragraphs and BASIC progs. There
were times when I wanted to keep the file visible (and editable) and still
be able to "handle" it with another app - with AE, ftp, or whatever -
without having to close the HyperEdit view first; and HyperEdit has a check
box setting that keeps the record from being locked. However, that scenario
didn't apply this morning, since all I wanted to do was edit the file from
one pane and immediately test through the dynamic connect pane, which, as
Gordon stated, UniDebugger allows. Anyway, apologies for the confusion.

I'm new to UniDebugger, but..... I use ftp to open the source code. There
are no locks left on the UV server. I just have to save before doing any
compiling.

I did have to make sure the BASIC files were type 19, and not type 1.

Is there a setting in UniDebugger that will allow me to edit and keep open a
file (program or PA) without locking it - so I can test it in the DC pane
without first closing the editor?

I could do this with HyperEdit, so I'm assuming I can do it with dbugger.

TIA
