"Intelligence in the 21st Century"
(Castle of San Martino, Priverno, Italy, 14-15-16 February 2001)

The Government of Italy anticipates a near-term modernization of its
intelligence community while also seeking to establish new open
relationships with
appropriate private sector and non-governmental organizations. Six
distinguished academic centers have come together to offer the Government
and the public policy community a forum within which to consider new ideas
.
The purpose of the conference is to offer to a selected audience of
participants from government, business and academic communities a critical
overview of the revolution of intelligence and of its technologies at the
beginning of the new century and to discuss the emergence of a new cultural
paradigm regarding intelligence, its
technologies and its use in the decision-making process.
The conference has the patronage of the following institutions :
Presidency of the Republic of Italy
Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy
Senate of the Republic of Italy
Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Italy
European Parliament
European Commission
The University of Florence
This conference, to be an annual event, will serve as the annual
meeting of those interested in participating in both the modernization of
the Italian intelligence community , and in the elaboration of Italian
views on the emerging European Community intelligence architecture and
policy. Speakers are recognized experts and opinion leaders coming from
Europe, Asia, and the Americas academia, business and government
intelligence community.
