Hi, Here is a very good summary of quantization theory. R.M. Gray and D.L. Neuhoff, "Quantization," IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, vol. 44, pp. 2325-2384, Oct. 1998
I also have a question about the quantization method for Bayesian network learning applications. Since we prefer a node in BN to have few quantization levels (maybe <6, otherwise the structure will be too complicated and the data required for accurate learning will be huge), so how to decide this quantization level? For example, a node represents the age with continuous value for 0 to 90? Thanks, R. The methods I've used were equal interval, equal frequency, and standard deviation for discretization. It would be very helpful if somebody gives me references on this matter and other proposed methodologies (or free software for test). If there is an outstanding or recommended method, please let me know. Thank you, Mi-Hyun - --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
