                     Work-in-Progress Session

Real-Time Systems Symposium, Dec 3-5th, Cancun, Mexico

                     Deadline: Friday Sept 26th

This is the last call for contributions to the Work-In-Progress (WIP)
session of RTSS 2003. The WIP session is devoted to the presentation
of new and on-going research in real-time systems, theory, and
applications. The prime purpose of the WIP session is to provide
researchers an opportunity to discuss their evolving ideas and gather
feedback thereon from the real-time community at large. Of particular
interest are ideas and contributions that present significant paradigm
shifts, explore unique and unconventional approaches to important
problems, or investigate fundamental departures from conventional wisdom
in adopted solutions. WIP topics include, but are not limited to:

o QoS support o Compiler support
  o Model-based development o Embedded operating systems
o Energy management o System development tools
  o Real-time systems middleware o Software engineering
o Adaptive systems theory and practice o Real-time databases
  o Real-time sensor/actuator networks o RT programming languages
o Security and survivability o Scheduling
  o Real-time and dependability o Formal methods
  o Wireless communications o Case-studies
o Multimedia computing o Systems integration
o Architectural support o Performance modeling

The RTSS 2003 WIP session will be held during the symposium which runs
December 3-5, 2003 in Cancum, Mexico. Accepted submissions will be
included in a separate RTSS 2003 WIP Proceedings which will be
distributed
to all RTSS 2003 conference participants and will be available
electronically from the conference home page, as well as from the IEEE
TC-RTS home page.

Submissions to RTSS 2003 WIP should describe original on-going work and
should be limited to four pages in the standard two column format
(single
spaced, font 10pt). To submit a WIP paper please e-mail a postscipt or
PDF
file as attachment to the RTSS Work-in-Progress Chair, Tarek Abdelzaher
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. Please write (in upper-case letters) in the
subject line of your e-mail "RTSS WIP 2003 SUBMISSION".

The deadline for submissions is Friday September 26th, 2003.
Notification of
acceptance will be emailed as soon as a decision is made, and no later
than October 27th, 2003. Camera-ready copies are due November 10th,
2003.
