The Software and Knowledge Engineering Lab (SKEL) at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR "Demokritos" is seeking to fill two research positions. The positions will be funded by an FP6-IST project, which started in November 2004 and will run for 3 years. The main responsibility of SKEL in this project is the development of knowledge resources, in particular task and process ontologies for multimedia data collected during rescue operations. Spatio-temporal relations are an important research issue in this work.
The positions to be filled are: 1. A research fellow. We are looking for a highly motivated young researcher, preferably with experience in research projects, who is willing to assume organisational responsibilities and participate in project development. Postgraduate studies are necessary, while a PhD or related research experience in Knowledge Technologies is desirable. 2. A research programmer. We are looking for a highly competent programmer, preferably with experience in research projects, and with significant interest in doing research. The candidate must be a graduate from an engineering or a physical science department with provable experience in programming. Postgraduate studies are very desirable. Excellent knowledge of English and experience in Java programming are desirable for both positions. Some knowledge of German is also a plus.
