Research Staff Member in Information & System Sciences Laboratory of HRL Laboratories.
 
Requirements:
The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in EE, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field.  Required research experience includes the theory and application of graphical probabilistic models,   in particular, reasoning and learning for Bayesian networks, as well as the development of Bayesian network models. Good background in machine learning (e.g. reinforcement learning, explanation-based learning), reliability, risk and diagnostics is very desirable.  We also expect familiarity with C, C++, JAVA, Matlab, and graphical user interfaces.  Our employees need to interact with customers in the industry and the Government, therefore good communication skills (verbal and written) are necessary. Work areas and responsibilities:
The candidate will participate in projects on design and application of probabilistic models to decision support systems such as diagnostic and prognostic assistants and to data mining. Candidate’s responsibilities will include development of graphical probabilistic models from domain knowledge and data, design and coding of software tools supporting model development and maintenance.  Other tasks involve planning of research projects in the area of machine learning, marketing of the projects to customers, presentations, publication and patenting of the research results.
