The MTE model (Mixtures of Truncated Exponentials)
allows discrete parents of continuous variables.
This model is implemented in the Elvira
software ( http://leo.ugr.es/elvira )

References on MTEs can be found in my web site.
Also Prakash Shenoy and Barry Cobb have studied this
model.
