The Volume Visualization and Artificial Intelligence
Research Group (WAI - http://wai.maia.ub.es) at the
University of Barcelona, has openings for short
term (May 07 - October 07) postdoc and predoc level
positions.

The ideal candidates are mathematicians or computer
scientists that have (or are willing to quickly acquire)
a deep knowledge of bayesian probability, graphical
models, machine learning and mathematical analysis.
They are thrilled to work on bioinformatic tasks such
as the design of computer algorithms for the distinction
between the coding and non-coding regions of DNA.
They are able to efficiently and elegantly code in
Java and/or Matlab in order to empirically validate or
disprove their scientific ideas.

The project is a collaboration with the Leibniz Institute on
Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research
(http://www.ipk-gatersleben.de/Internet) at Gatersleben,
Germany, one of the top institutions in Genetics in Europe.
During the project development, WAI team members are
expected and allowed to visit the institute and make use of
its resources.

Interested candidates should send an e-mail as soon as
