SECOND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The First International Conference on the Dynamics of Information Systems
will take place from Wednesday January 28 thru Friday January 30, 2009 in
Gainesville, Florida, U.S.A. This 3 day event is sponsored by the Air Force
Research Laboratory, the Center for Applied Optimization of the University
of Florida, and Raytheon, Inc.
In this conference we are interested in how information, usually in the form
of sensing and control, influences the evolution of a distributed or
networked system. Fundamentally, the conference will examine the potential
influence information has on the system and how that information flows
through a system and is modified in time and space. Concepts that increase
our knowledge of the relational aspects of information as opposed to the
entropic content of information will be the focus of the conference.
Dynamics of Information plays an increasingly critical role in our society.
Networks affect our lives every day. The influence of information on
social, biological, genetic, and military systems must be better understood
to achieve large advances in the capability and understanding of these
systems. Applications are wide-spread and include: the detection of
terrorist networks, the design of highly functioning businesses and computer
networks, modeling the distributed sensory and control physiology of
animals, quantum entanglement, genome modeling, multi-robotic systems, and
industrial and manufacturing safety.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together scientists and engineers
from industry, government, and universities to exchange knowledge and
results in a broad range of topics relevant to the theory and practice of
the dynamics of information systems. The conference will result in a
published refereed book containing material summarizing conference
participants' research in the dynamics of information systems.

ABSTRACT/PAPER SUBMISSION:
Authors are invited to submit abstracts for conference presentations. Those
authors presenting at the conference are encouraged to submit a draft of a
full paper describing their original, unpublished research (at most 15
pages). Note that simultaneous submission of papers to other conferences or
workshops with published proceedings is not allowed. More information on
full paper submission will appear in a later mailing.
