Department of Computer Science Post Doctoral Scholar Position University of California, Irvine
The Department of Computer Science at UC Irvine has a postdoctoral position available in the area of machine learning and computational vision. The postdoc will be supervised by Professor Max Welling. The project is a part of a collaboration between the computer science dept. at UCI (Prof. M. Welling), the mathematics dept. at UCI (Prof. J. Lowengrub & prof. N. Komorova) and the biology dept. at UCI (Prof. D. Wodarz and Prof. E. Lee). The research challenges involve the development of new computer vision models and machine learning algorithms for recognizing, tracking and classifying image-data of real and simulated tumor growth. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a closely-related discipline. The salary range for these positions will be between $45,000 and $60,000 annually, commensurate with training and experience. The earliest date for appointment will be November 1, 2009. The appointment will initially be for a one-year period but is expected to be extended to an additional year.
