CALL FOR PAPERS
Belief function theory and knowledge management
Special Session to be held as part of
IPMU-2010, 13-th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION
PROCESSING AND MANAGEMENT OF UNCERTAINTY IN KNOWLEDGEBASED
SYSTEMS
June 28-July 2, 2010 – Dortmund, Germany
-----------------------------------------------------------

The theory of belief functions is considered as a useful theory for
representing and managing uncertain knowledge. This theory was introduced by
Shafer as a model to represent quantified beliefs. It is also called
Dempster-Shafer theory or evidence theory. This approach has been
increasingly applied in several fields like artificial intelligence, machine
learning, data mining, graphical models, information fusion, web semantics, etc.
This session is dedicated to papers presenting current developments, and
results of various aspects of the use of the belief function theory to manage
knowledge. So, original papers with
theoretical and/or practical contributions are solicited.
This session includes (but is not limited to) the following topics related to
the use of belief function theory for the management of knowledge in:
- Machine learning
- Datamining
- Graphical models
- Web semantics
- Information fusion
- Business decision, etc

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
To prepare a submission, please follow the same instructions as for the main
conference (see
http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~ipmu2010/instructions.html).

Special session papers will be handled in the same way as regular papers. In
particular, they will be peer-reviewed by the conference program committee on
the basis of the same criteria. When submitting the paper through the
conference management system, authors are asked to indicate that their
contribution is suitable to this special session related to Belief function
theory and knowledge management.
