Two summer internship positions are available for Masters or Ph.D. students in the areas of machine learning and data mining.
Position in Palo Alto, CA The overall goal of the internship is to identify patients with the highest risk for hospitalizations. The main task will be to improve the robustness of a statistical model to missing features and qualitative inputs. Knowledge and Skills: Machine learning, data mining, pattern recognition. Previous experience with handling missing response data in the analysis of experiments a plus. Responsibilities will include a wide array of tasks, including specification, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of a prototype. Knowledge and Skills: Proven expertise in the area of relational databases, especially with MySQL. Strong programming experience in PHP and Python. Familiarity with basic algorithms for supervised machine learning, cross-validation, boot-strapping, and performance metrics is desired.
