A 12-month post-doctoral position is open for studying computational methods for chemoinformatics. The position will be held at the GREYC laboratory of the University of Caen (CNRS UMR 6072, France).

Working context:
The position is funded thanks to a collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company. The position is included in our larger activity on designing efficient SAR methodologies; the work will be developed thanks to a close collaboration with chemists (Centre d'Études et de Recherche sur le Médicament de Normandie).

Locations:
- Caen, Normandy, France

Topic:
In chemoinformatics, a SAR model aims at estimating the activity of a chemical (e.g. its toxicity or its activity as a candidate drug) from its structure. We design computational methodologies that analyse a set of examples and automatically discover key factors relying the structure of a molecule with its activity.

The work will therefore be interdisciplinary, integrating topics from chemoinformatics and computer science.
The mission is particularly focused on graph patterns for chemoinformatics.
As molecules are modelled by graphs, a graph pattern corresponds to a descriptive feature of a molecule. A graph pattern may be considered as related to a chemical activity, on the basis of their correlation noted in dataset. In order to found computational tools on graph patterns, there is a need of a methodology that assess how reliable is the relation between a graph pattern and a given activity.

Profile:
We are looking for a PhD computer scientist with strong knowledge in at least one the following fields: chemoinformatics, data-mining, formal concept analysis, Bayesian inference, combinatorial algorithms, graph algorithms, computational geometry.
Besides a sound experience of programming will be appreciated.

Place, duration and remuneration:
- 12 months contract, starting from October/November.
- net salary: between 1900 and 2000 euros per month

How to apply:

Please send your application (PDF format) as soon as possible.
