We are seeking candidates for up to four post-doc positions, each with a duration of approximately two years. The positions are associated with the EU STREP-project entitled 'AMIDST: Analysis of massive data streams' under the work program 'Scalable data analytics'. The aim of the project is to develop a scalable framework that facilitates efficient analysis and prediction based on information captured in streaming data. The overall duration of the project is three years and is a collaboration involving three academic partners as well as four industrial partners.
As a post-doctoral researcher in the project you will be developing models and algorithms for prediction and monitoring of streaming data. The main focus will be the development of (approximate) inference and learning techniques for probabilistic graphical models, where the algorithmic developments will be driven by the specific use-cases supplied by the industrial partners in the project. Key parts of the developed algorithms will be implemented in an open source software system. Requirements: ------------- - PhD in computer science, statistics, or related field. - Experience with probabilistic graphical models. - Experience in data mining/machine learning. - Excellent programming skills. - Publication record in peer-reviewed conferences and journals. - Excellent level of both written and spoken English - Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others. Locale: ------- Two positions are formally associated with the Department of Computer and Information Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (http://www.idi.ntnu.no) in Trondheim, Norway, while the two other positions are associated with the Computer Science Department at Aalborg University (http://www.cs.aau.dk), Denmark. We expect that the successful candidates will be physically together most of the time throughout their employment independently of their formal associations. Prolonged stays at both universities should be anticipated. Starting date and duration: --------------------------- The positions will be available from January 1, 2014. It may be possible, if so desired, to supplement the post-doc position with teaching duties. This will extend the default two year duration of the position accordingly. How to apply: ------------- Applicants should send their application including a CV, a cover letter, schematic teaching portfolio (if applicable), and contact information of at least two references by email to Helge Langseth ([email protected]) AND Thomas Dyhre Nielsen ([email protected]). Use the subject "AMIDST postdoc application". Application deadline: --------- The application deadline for the positions is November 1, 2013. The successful applicant should start January 1, 2014, or within 6 months thereafter. The project ends December 31st 2016. Inquiries for additional information should be send to Helge Langseth ([email protected]) or Thomas Dyhre Nielsen ([email protected]). _______________________________________________ uai mailing list [email protected] https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/uai
