The Center for Language and Speech Processing (CLSP, http://www.clsp.jhu.edu/) at Johns Hopkins University has immediate openings for postdoctoral positions in social media analysis for public health.
The widespread use and availability of social media data has created new opportunities for research in a large number of domains. In particular, numerous public health applications can and have benefited from the analysis of social media, and web data in general. Applications include influenza tracking, tobacco control, mental health, and vaccination programs. We are searching for outstanding creative individuals to develop novel machine learning, natural language processing and social media analysis algorithms and tools to benefit public health. Postdocs will work with Prof. Mark Dredze (http://www.dredze.com) and other faculty in CLSP, as well as colleagues in public health and medicine. By working at the intersection of these areas, the postdoc will have the opportunity to receive mentorship and training in both areas, and gain experience at the world's leading public health school in interdisciplinary research. This is an exciting and emerging area, where researchers with this joint training can help shape the development of this field. Candidates should have a PhD in computer science, or a related field, and research experience in ML, NLP or social media data. Experience with public health or medicine is desirable, but not required. To apply: 1) Submit an application to the CLSP postdoc program: http://www.clsp.jhu.edu/about-clsp/postdoc-jobs/ 2) Email [email protected] to indicate interest in the social media for public health position. Note that CLSP has several available postdoctoral positions, for which the deadline remains March 1, 2015. We are seeking applicants for this project specifically since there are immediate openings. _______________________________________________ uai mailing list [email protected] https://secure.engr.oregonstate.edu/mailman/listinfo/uai
