I'm pleased to announce that the book I've been working on for so long is now available for pre-order. Here is the link to the Springer web page: http://www.springer.com/statistics/social+sciences+%26+law/book/978-1-4939-2124-9.

Although this book is primarily focused at an educational measurement audience, I think it is interesting to the UAI community in two ways.

1) It focuses on the model building and evaluation process rather than the mechanics of Bayesian networks. In particular, it covers both managing expert knowledge and learning from data. The educational examples used in the book should be reasonably accessible even to non-education specialists.

2) It focuses on models with latent variables, bringing in several important techniques from psychometrics for those supporting those kinds of variables are not widely known or used in the UAI community.

Check it it out.
