Dear UAI list (and apologies for any cross postings), The Australian AFL <http://www.afl.com.au/> football season (or, to use local vernacular, footy season) starts soon - I believe this Thursday, Thu 24/March/2016, Melbourne <http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/australia/melbourne> (Australia) time.
Please feel welcome to join our 21-year-old <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/history.shtml> probabilistic footy-tipping <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy> competition <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy> (vernacular for probabilistic `football prediction' competition <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy>) as it goes into its 22nd season. The competition <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy> is free for all to join <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/join.shtml>, probabilistic and information-theoretic in nature, using logarithm-loss (log-loss, with mini-refresher course <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/about.shtml#info>), which is special amongst proper scoring rules <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoring_rule#Proper_scoring_rules>. Last season, in 2015, here's what the progress scores <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/past/2015/ladder/ladder.info.23.shtml> were just before the finals series started. There's also a Gaussian competition <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/about.shtml#gauss> on the margin. Consider join <http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~footy/join.shtml>ing (from anywhere and everywhere), these competitions are free for you and all. Cheers and best, David Dowe.
