The Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow for an 8-month position with a possible extension to 24 months subject to progress of the project and availability of funds commencing January 1, 2017. The project is co-funded by Mitacs and InvLogik Solution Inc. The initial duration of the project is 8-months with a possible extension to 24 months subject to progress of the project and availability of funds. The candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Abdallah Mohamed and Dr. Yong Gao, and will join an innovative project to develop an interactive decision support system. The aim of the system is to help users make equity trading decisions within a limited timeframe by showing trading opportunities based on given strategies. The system should be able to answer simple queries to justify the provided suggestions.
Eligibility Criteria: - A PhD in Computer Science or related area by the start of the position. - A good track record of research experience in knowledge representation and reasoning, decision support systems, or machine learning. - An experience of developing software using Object Oriented Programming and SQL. - Team work skills and the ability to work independently. - As the postdoctoral fellow is expected to help develop a prototype system, knowledge of designing complex user interfaces and experiences with the programming language Python are highly desirable.
