Dear All,

The Department of Innovation Systems, University of Salerno - Italy,
invites applications for additional PhD studentships that have been
proposed to be fully-funded by MIUR as part of its doctorate programme in
Big Data Management.

The additional studentships are aimed to drive innovation in industrial
companies by means of research projects that will make use of advanced Big
Data technologies, Deep Learning among them, in the domains of video
analysis, medical image processing and e-health. To pursue this goal, the
students are expected to develop research activities that will last a total
of 18 months at University of Salerno, 12 months at companies and 6 months
abroad at our academic partners.

Candidates are expected to have Masters in Computer Science or similar
degree. The successful candidate must have a strong programming background,
as well as good analytical and communication skills. The student is
expected to work as part of a team and independently, and to prepare clear
reports and research papers. Exposure to machine learning and understanding
of mathematical background is highly desirable although not mandatory. The
studentship is for three years, and covers Home/EU student fees as well as
a tax-free grant of around Euros 16.500 per annum; the period abroad is
covered by increasing the grant by 50% during the stay.

Please consider that non-EU nationals are required to have granted a
long-term VISA in order to study in Italy. A useful guide can be found

application. They can be made by email to Prof. Roberto Tagliaferri (
rtagliafe...@unisa.it) delegated for collecting the industrial Ph.D.
projects of the DISA-MIs and who will supervise some of the projects
alongside Prof. Luigi Troiano (troi...@unisannio.it).
