The UbiComp Steering Committee <http://ubicomp.org/sc>is pleased to
introduce the Gaetano Borriello Outstanding Student award for UbiComp
2018 in Singapore. Named in honor of the late Gaetano Borriello
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaetano_Borriello>, this award recognizes
a student who is making outstanding research contributions and
leadership to the field of Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing.
The student receiving this award will be recognized during the opening
plenary at UbiComp 2018 and will receive a small financial reward and/or
some support to travel to attend the conference. They will also be
invited to meet with members of the UbiComp Steering Committee during
the conference.
Eligibility:

Nominee must be pursuing a research-based degree in any country in a
field related to ubiquitous computing
*
Nominee must have been a co-author on at least 1 UbiComp and/or
IMWUT paper (any year)
*
Nominee should be a current student in good standing as of October
9th, 2018
Deadline:
Nominations are due by Friday, September 7th(time: anywhere on earth)

A 1-2 page summary of the student’s research (can be a dissertation
proposal abstract or similar)

The student’s C.V.

A letter of recommendation from the student’s research advisor(s)
also confirming the student’s eligibility listed above
*
An optional additional supporting letter of recommendation from
another member of the UbiComp research community
Letter(s) may be included in the nomination PDF or submitted directly to
Julie Kientz at jkie...@uw.edu <mailto:jkie...@uw.edu>.
The UbiComp Steering committee will review the nominations and make
their selection. The student winning the award will be notified by
September 14th, 2018.
