Dear Members,

The Japanese Society of Artificial Intelligence is opening its 33rd
annual conference at Niigata, on 4th till 7th June, to the
international society of AI.
This conference has been a black box from the view of people outside
of Japan because this was domestic. So far, only 4 percent were
published in English, and they were presented in sessions where others
mostly communicated in Japanese.

This was a loss of opportunity for researchers on AI outside of
Japan, considering the scale and the content richness of JSAI --- we
had 2500 participants in 2017, and exceeded 2600 in 2018. More
importantly, this conference so far created a lot of activities such
as projects to collect challenging topics toward realizing the
near-future contribution to the society and businesses, organized
sessions on proposed new frontiers of the basis and the applications
of AI, and interactions of academia and business sections.
>From JSAI2019, we open five sub-domains of AI to the international AI
researchers, with including pure English sessions.

Please consider to submit, and also circulate this information to your
colleagues. Selected excellent papers are planned to be published in
post-proceedings from Springer Verlag, and some will be awarded.

Sincerely,
Yukio Ohsawa,
Program Chair of JSAI2019
