Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Health Data Sciences

The University of Manchester in the UK wishes to recruit an enthusiastic and 
innovative individual to the role of Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in 
Health Data Sciences based in the Division of Informatics, Imaging and Data 
Science. This is a permanent (faculty) position as academic staff member with 
excellent growth opportunities.

The purpose of the job is to deliver research that have a lasting impact on 
health and care and research-led education and training in health data science. 
The successful applicant will use and develop novel methodologies to extract 
information from medical data and use it to improve healthcare by helping to 
understand, diagnose, monitor or treat disease. It is expected that research 
will be disseminated widely and will have significant impact on disease 
understanding, diagnosis, treatment or management. New funding will be sought 
to maintain and grow self-sustaining research. They will also be expected to 
contribute to and develop undergraduate teaching, postgraduate teaching and 
supervision and professional training as well as undertake any associated 
management and administrative duties.

Candidates should have a PhD in informatics, computer science, statistics, or 
any other data sciences related field, and a sustained track record of both 
authorship of papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals and of securing 
grant funding. Significant and demonstrable experience of enabling applied 
health data science through the application of state-of-the-art analytic 
methods is essential along with a broad knowledge of modern methods for 
interdisciplinary applied health research. Demonstrable experience in the 
delivery of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels is also 
required.
