The Rationality Enhancement Group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen is looking for a ML researcher interested in developing robust program induction methods for discovering human-interpretable decision rules. This project is part of a larger research program that aims to lay the scientific and technological foundations for empowering people to become more effective.
Applicants should hold a master's degree or Ph.D. in computer science or a related discipline (e.g., AI, machine learning, computational linguistics, statistics, or cognitive science) and have strong programming skills, and a solid background in (Bayesian) machine learning, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, or computational cognitive science. An initial contract will be given for 1 year with possibility of subsequent extensions. Experience with some of the following is a plus but not required: computational linguistics (especially grammars, probabilistic parsing, and grammar induction), probabilistic programming or program induction, research on human decision-making (especially heuristics), or Bayesian models of human learning. We would like to start this project as soon as possible but the starting date is negotiable.
