The Data Science Institute at Hasselt University is looking for a
Research Professor in the field of Database Management and Data
Wrangling.
Research Mission:
The UHasselt Data Science Institute (DSI@UHasselt) fosters collaboration
among data science experts across disciplines towards high impact, on
both a local and global level, in research and education, and on
society. It is expected that you establish high impact research lines in
data management and data wrangling (both on a fundamental and applied
level) that are aligned with the research mission of DSI. You will
contribute to the ambition of DSI to be nationally and internationally
recognized for its strengths in data science in general and data
management and data wrangling in particular. You will direct a part of
your research interests towards scientific consulting endeavors
(including service teaching for research institutions and industry) and
ensure a fruitful interaction between the consulting, education and
research mission in data science and this from an interdisciplinary
perspective.
Profile:
- The position is on the level of associate or full professor
- You obtained a PhD in computer science or in a related field (or
equivalent through experience).
- You have an excellent scientific track record (methodological and
applied) in data management and data wrangling as related to data
science in general.
- Research experience and practical experience in one or several of the
following areas provides an additional advantage: big data management
and processing, distributed and federated databases, data platforms,
cloud computing, linked data, NoSQL and heterogeneous data, data
integration, information extraction, and data provenance. Example
publication venues include conferences such as VLDB, SIGMOD/PODS, WWW,
..., and journals such as: ACM TODS, VLDB Journal, ...
