*PhD Position in Machine Leaning available starting Fall 2021*
A fully funded PhD position is available at Wichita State University as a part of the newly funded NSF AI Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning (IFML : https://ml.utexas.edu/ifml), starting from Fall 2021. Selected candidate will primarily work at the Wichita State University campus under the supervision of Dr. Kaushik Sinha and have the opportunity to collaborate with numerous researchers and faculty involved in IFML partner institutions: *the Machine Learning Lab at University of Texas at Austin, the University of Washington, and Microsoft Research Redmond* and work on: *Foundational problems in machine learning, optimization, and statistics and their relationship to algorithmic and methodological improvements for training and deploying ML models.* The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related fields and a very strong Mathematics and Computer Science background with substantial python programming experience. Exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree will also be considered. Yearly renewal of funding is contingent upon satisfactory performance.
