The School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh is
seeking full-time post-doctoral research scientists. Candidates will be
housed at the Pitt Computational Social Dynamic (PICSO) Lab and will work
with Dr. Yu-Ru Lin in modeling culture norms and predicting community
outcomes across diverse cultures/countries. This will involve analyzing a
large amount of behavioral and network data collected through different
social media and sensing mechanisms.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with a
cross-country, cross-institution, cross-disciplinary research-oriented
community, and opportunities to work with exciting new datasets, including
social media data, surveys, as well as linked survey-register-based
datasets that combine demographic, behavioral, community, and economic
information.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research contributes to one of
these areas: network science, machine learning, statistical modeling,
social network analysis, complex systems, and computational social science.

Start date and duration: Beginning as early as February 2021, the position
offers an initial two-year term with the possibility of a third-year
renewal.

Review of applications will begin January 15, 2020, and continue until the
position is filled.

Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in fields including computer science, network science, applied
mathematics, economics, computational social science, or other related
fields.

Required skills:


   -

   Experience in programming in one or more of the following: Python, R,
   Java, C/C++, or similar programs.
   -

   Experience in working with large-scale data
   -

   Participation and activity in the scientific community; previously
   published research paper
   -

   Strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a highly
   collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
   -

   Priorities will be given to those who are fluent in French reading and
   writing.
