Sorry for posting this here, but I'm not sure where to get an educated answer to the question.
Choice Modelling is an interesting area at the boundary of economics and psychology that develops predictions for individual and group responses to decisions under context. I've seen it employed to develop a model of revenue conversion rates for keyword search based click through advertising. Simple google queries don't show anything to indicate that its part of the toolkit for development of adaptive software interfaces.
