Hi, I'm currently working on quite complex ubiquity command, basically I'm generating suggestions for a modifier noun based on the response from server. What I don't like so far is even if I'm currently typing modifier my noun tries to access server on each key-press, what takes a lot bandwidth and it makes browser less responsive as well.
What I suggest to track the moment when user stops typing and then call the <noun>.suggest I think it would make a lot sense. Of course I can manage to do it through suggest itself but think it would be so much better to make life of command developers easier, besides I'm pretty sure I'm describing quite common case, so it might have a sense to add infrastructure for that to ubiquity itself. The way I imagine can be to add method to the noun *suggestOnInputDone *which will be fired when user will make some delay during typing. I can my jQuery plugin which makes jQuery able to bind stoptyping event. Which is automatically fired after delay of 600ms when user stopped typing, optionally delay can be specified through optional argument. more about it here >> http://code.google.com/p/gozellen/source/browse/trunk/gozellen/stubs/jquery.stopTyping-0.1.js As ubiquity is using jQuery think it can be easy to plug this. I can even try to make a patch if you think it's a good idea Thanks in advance -- Irakli Gozalishvili Web: http://rfobic.blogspot.com/ Address: Taksteeg 3 - 4, 1012PB Amsterdam, Netherlands --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ubiquity-firefox" group.
