This doesn't seem like a large enough project for GSoC - it seems all 
that would be needed is providing the right API (which you could 
probably get from Google) and providing an installation method.

Admittedly, I don't know a great deal about Google Gadgets, so I could 
be way off on this :)

Of course, that doesn't mean that this isn't a cool and interesting idea!
