I'd say the best way to keep yourself useful in general, is to use the product in a varied environment (both OS and browser version) and report back any errors or inconsistencies. Also keep up on the discussions in the groups and on IRC, people often ask for feedback on specific topics. On a less tedious side, you can spread the word, get your friends and colleagues to use it, and write commands for it.
