Don,

We're wondering if this is actually a parsing issue or an issue with  
something else (like showing you the interface and preview). Could you  
try that same query in the playpen? Just enter this URL to get to the  
parser playpen:

chrome://ubiquity/content/playpen.xhtml

(or maybe .html, depending on your version)

Enter your query there, run it, and it'll tell you how many  
milliseconds it took to do *just the parsing*. If you set it so it  
runs multiple times, it'll average over those runs and give a more  
accurate time. If you could give us a sample query and the time info  
(in comparison to what you experience in Ubiquity itself), that'd be  
helpful.
