The Ubuntu slideshow for Maverick does have a new design. (Sorry, still
upcoming. Monday?). Resolution is something like 754x440. For reference,
the current one is 798x451.

As far as I'm aware, that shouldn't actually be _appearing_ in your
case; there's a file attached to the slideshow stating its minimum
resolution, and if that can't be displayed Ubiquity is meant to just not
show a slideshow at all. I would guess the change comes with Ubiquity's
awesome new design. We'll see how things fit together when the new
design is in, anyway :)
