Back at UDS-Q we did some talking, and there are a few things I should share over here…
We have an etherpad document: http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-q/meeting/20718/installer-slideshow-checkup-and-planning/ So, first, the branches look a little different, as you can see from the code page: https://code.launchpad.net/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu In practice you can treat this as before. Stuff all goes to our trunk branch at lp:ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu. However, we have a branch for the active release as soon as that release is opened. (So, there's already lp:ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/quantal). Releases happen from the release-specific branch, so there can be a steady flow of new stuff landing in trunk and nothing weird will happen. I would to line up changes with the big iso builds this time, because we miss out on a lot of testing when that doesn't happen. (And it happened a bit last cycle). So, let's think about those milestones as opportunities for free proofreading (and testing), and make the most of them. Of course, that's easier said than done, so I'll just keep saying things. I kind of forgot to send this message for alpha 1, so for alpha 2 I'll be changing a few obvious details in the copy for each slideshow (12.04 to 12.10, for example). If anyone has anything else of that sort (removed or renamed features in some flavours) that would be excellent. Ideally each flavour should have final copy for beta 1 — frozen on August 30 — (barring maybe two or three strings) so translations can be happening with beta 2. Otherwise we get last-minute translation mistakes. Exciting tip: if you have a note for translators, use an xml comment like <!-- Use up to 60 characters here -->. Keep in mind this gets duplicated a lot at the moment, so try to be concise, but it might be useful where there are odd details like space constraints. I will be using this list to point out deadlines and the like. Shouldn't need much traffic, of course, but hopefully we can keep in touch so everything works out neatly. For any questions, requests or concerns this list is a good place to start: everyone who runs a slideshow flavour is on here, unless they opted out :) That's it. Pretty well as always, but with email. Take care!
