Hi list,

We seem to be having some last minute confusion with regard to the Festival and F-lite options for speech support on the Live CD.

For some reason it was assumed that Festival would require 40MB of installed space, while F-lite would only require 8MB. However, it turned out that F-lite was not supported directly by gnome-speech and so we needed to add speech-dispatcher to make it work. Unfortunately, this takes the total to 17MB.

apt-cache show festival now only shows 7.3MB (and with dev packages removed it's more like 4.8MB)

So the confusion is now complete ... is Festival really that small? and if so why should we not simply go with Festival? We get better sound and can avoid the unstable gnome-speech CVS and speech dispatcher.

What are we missing from this picture? :)
