Not sure if this has already been bugged, but I downloaded today's build of the live cd. The screen reader still doesn't speak; However, I had someone look at the screen and discovered that aside from the gnome-speech issue, another problem is that the accessibility flag isn't being enabled, even if the screen reader is selected from the f5 access menu.

Yes this was also the case on Flight 6. A bug has been filed here: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/39865

The simple reason why this is still an issue is that the people who package the live CD system (Colin and Tollef) are some of the most hectically busy people on the planet just now ;) I expect it will be sorted out soonishly. Unfortunately I'm not a developer myself :-/

Luke, do you have an overview of the gconf settings that were submitted for this? I expect is should be an easy thing to check and fix.
