Hello all I am blind and live in Brazil. I started to get envolved with Linux about one year ago.
I have made some contributions to Oralux project, especially translating documents to Brazilian Portuguese language. Currently, I have Oralux installed on my hard drive, though I haven't migrated my complete desktop yet. I would like to know about some differences between Oralux and the recently-released Ubuntu 6.10. To be more specific, my questions for the moment are as follows: 1. Is it true that Orca screen reader is able to read console applications, such as Speakup or yasr would? If not, does ubuntu already contain a console screen reader such as Speakup included in the live CD and properly set? 2. Is it already possible to get eSpeak synthesiser to work with some screen reader, whether Orca, Speakup, Emacspeak, or another one? This is important because one of my difficulties to migrate to Linux is the lack of Brazilian Portuguese voices (currently there's only one MBROLA-based), and I'm contributing with a new Portuguese voice for eSpeak. That's it for the moment. I hope to contribute in some way with accessibility on Ubuntu.
