I'm not sure.
What text output do you get if you use the -x option, eg:
  espeak -x "hello"

should give the phoneme codes:
  [EMAIL PROTECTED]'oU

What happens if you send the speech output to a WAV file?  Can you then
play the WAV file later?, eg:
  espeak -w test.wav "hello" 

Do you know whether anyone has ever had eSpeak working on a similar PPC
?
