Forgive my stupid question:
How can I check that all applications in my system use alsa only?
Another observation is that if I use espeak instead of ibmtts, orca
periodically loose speech, forcing me to restart orca manually.

Maybe IBMTTS use OSS module. You need check that all applications in
your systems use alsa only.
