Hello all all, Here is how I turn off kernel mode setting. First, I find out which video driver I am using via lsmod. I my case it is the i915 driver. Next, I add an append statement in grub that looks like i915.modeset=0 Now you should have control over your display again when you restart. Maybe this will help in setting fonts sanely. Cheers, Josh
