Hiya,

I'm new to this list, although not particularly new to Ubuntu. I have
mobility issues that are getting worse and make typing difficult. So I
have a couple questions:

1) Are there any other Dasher users out there? I've been using Dasher
on MacOS and much prefer it over voice recognition (part of my
condition means sometimes I slur), however when I downloaded Dasher on
Karmic using the Software Center, it won't let me input to other
programs, just into itself which means I have to copy/paste to really
do anything useful. Is there a Linux version where I can just input
directly to other programs? (I know doing so is now possible in MacOS
and Windows) The help pages say "open the options menu", but I have
yet to find an options menu in the Linux port and there's nothing in
preferences or anywhere else I've looked.

2) Does anyone have a voice recognition solution that works on Ubuntu?
I've seen the lists of "this is what's out there", but I've not seen
any sort of real direction of "this is how to make it work" or anyone
saying "this has worked well for me" and I don't have the time or
energy to fiddle around with things. I'm also reluctant to buy Dragon
and run it under Wine just because I already have bought MacSpeech
Dictate for my Mac and don't have much money so am trying not to spend
more.

Thanks!
Penelope
