Hy Luke,

The LightDM replacement to Gdm is very interesting me too. How can possible doing this replacement for an Oneiric installed system if the purpose is working default the a11y support with screen reader in GDM? My friend sees following error when he trying replace LightDm to Gdm and try setting A11y properties with Gdm in terminal, he using following command: root@ubuntu:/# sudo -u gdm gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications screen-reader-enabled true

** (process:4488): WARNING **: Command line `dbus-launch --autolaunch=20fabca28cb849c3142b381e02746da0 --binary-syntax --close-stderr' exited with non-zero exit status 1: No protocol specified\nAutolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n

** (process:4488): WARNING **: Command line `dbus-launch --autolaunch=20fabca28cb849c3142b381e02746da0 --binary-syntax --close-stderr' exited with non-zero exit status 1: No protocol specified\nAutolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n
root@ubuntu:/#
He tryed using this command an installed Oneiric system.

Possible doing this replacement by default a custom live CD if I would like automatic login working too? If I remember right, when I looked this with alpha3 based live CD, GDM wont start automaticaly with live CD, and I not tryed this replacement now.

I see an another interesting issue with Oneiric and Unity related:
General, I using Oneiric with Gnome Fallback session, but I would like trying Unity 2D after I read Guis letter. Because I am not have sighted assistance to change session in LightDm, I edited the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file:
I uncommented following line:
greeter-session=unity-greeter
And modify following line:
user-session=gnome-fallback
I simple replaced with gnome-fallback session to ubuntu-2d session, and restarted lightdm login manager with service lightdm restart command. My system are I configured for automatic login, and Unity 2D wonderful started.

I tested little with Unity, and final would like switch back with gnome-fallback session. So I again modify /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf fileto I change back the session... :-(:-( After I restarted LightDm, I very surprised, because simple owerwritten or deleted my custom keybindings, with I defined in GNOME Control Center the Keyboard pane when I used GNOME Fallback session. For example, not possible to pop up panel menue with ALT+F1 key combination, not possible to access Run dialog, etc. Why happened this? Unity stores own key combinations equals place for example with GNOME3 fallback session (.config/dconf/user binary gsettings file)? Possible fix this with next release? Have an useful workaround to prewent this problem if an user would like using not only Unity dependent sessions and already customized for example GNOME3 fallback session related keybindings?
