As you can see during the demo, you can pick whatever license you want, you can even specify your own. For the demo I picked Proprietary because it was faster :) As for why we allow proprietary licenses, it is to ensure we build the broadest ecosystem possible for Ubuntu. We want Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify, etc to all work on Ubuntu and support it as a first grade platform. We believe open source will continue to win over proprietary software over time, but until we get there lets make sure users have the best experience possible. > 2. Can I charge money for my application? You are able to today if you upload deb packages and you will be able to with click packages closer to the end of the year. Maybe sooner. Jamie or Marc will be able to answer in more depth than I can, but applications will run isolated with limited permissions, enforced my AppArmor and a lot of other great work from the security team. Here's the blueprint for app isolation targeting the SDK: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/security-s-appisolation-sdk -- Martin -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-appstore-developers Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-appstore-developers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
